Every once in a while, mom would take us to grandma's house when we visited Taiwan every year. Grandma lives alone in a southern city not too distant from Kaohsiung City, the city we stay in for the next four months. Normally, aunt Mary would take us to grandma's house. It takes about 35 minutes to drive there. Lately, aunt Mary has been very busy so we decided to take public transportation instead.
It took us three types of transportation vehicles to get to grandma's house: rapid transit, followed by train and bus. As we were not in a hurry we walked after getting off the bus. Overall it took us two hours and fifteen minutes to get there this time. It was an exciting trip that we ended up walking a lot and saving some money. Mom said we only spent three US dollars to get to grandma's house one way, since Allie and I are both free to take any transportation.
Check out the following photos and you will see how we got there step by step.

First of all, we walked from home to the nearest rapid transit station. Mom told us to carry our own backpack. I have clothes, some crayons, papers, a water bottle, and my favorite dog doll, Dodo, in my backpack. Allie carried her own backpack all the way just as I did. Mom was very impressed.

It only takes one rapid transit stop to get to the train station. Allie and I had a hair cut earlier. Since then Allie has been making funny faces often.

We watched trains stop and go by as we waited on platform.

I don't know which is our train but mom will tell me.

We are on the train to grandma's house, yeah!

We got off the train and am waiting for a bus. Mom said it will take thirty minutes for the next bus to arrive. This is a good time to have some snacks.

Here comes the bus, finally!

The bus passed by the city hospital. Pingtung is the name of the city where grandma lives.

It takes about 10 minutes of walk to get to grandma's house.

Mom said she has a lot of memories surrounding this creek. The blooming trees on sidewalk are beautiful.

Yeah, we are at grandma's front door! We are so excited! Huh, how's my kongfu!

By the way, Pingtung is an agriculture-based city. Mom said there are lots of interesting places to visit, particularly in its suburban areas. Maybe we share it some other time when we have an opportunity to visit. Bye now!
